  HISTORY

Groove Project began in the summer of 1999 as
a drum circle under a tree led by Parkersburg drummer Andy Hall. Rhythmic knowledge was soaked up from every available source: friends from Marshall U and WVU, recordings, internet, books, clinics. We began learning about rhythm and groove through structured playing of a few styles found around the globe. We are based in
the Parkersburg / Marietta area of West Virginia and Ohio.

Encouraged by Artsbridge, our local arts education grant funneling group, we began an educational program for grade schools and played for many hundreds of children throughout the next few years in Wood and Washington counties.

We have released a CD highlighting the ideas we explored, and continue to play festivals, grade schools and nightclub performances.

Groove Project was the recipient of the Artsbridge Founder's Award in 2001. Past performances include WVU-Parkersburg, Marshall University, Marietta College, Washington State College, MOV Multicultural Festival & with the Southeastern Ohio Symphony in Cambridge.

Our members include Andy Hall, Andy McVey,
Toni Kellar, Ali Pierce, Matt Smith, Marty Guinn,
and Molly Watson.

We are joined on occasion by Steve Hall, Greg Radcliff, Rachel Covington, and Brian Merril.
