SOME MEMBER BIOS

Andy Hall
has been playing drums from the age of 10. He is a graphic designer in Marietta, OH. He then toured 5 years with Star of Indiana drum corps (which evolved into Blast!) where he studied with world renowned educators Dennis Delucia, Bob Dubinski and Thom Hannum. Andy plays drum set in the local area with several groups, including Vinnie & the Lubricators and the Here & Now Quartet.

Molly Watson graduated from OSU with a BFA in Dance. She then traveled to NYC and began studying with the Paul Taylor Company and others before dancing with the Rondo Dance Theatre professionally for 2 years. Molly was introduced to Pan-African Dance and has since studied Afro-Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Haitian, West African Dance including Sabar from Senegal. She has studied djembe with Ladji Camara and studied Sabar drumming in Senegal. Molly performed both percussion and dance with the African Percussion Group Alafia in Atlanta.

Andy McVey has played guitar and drums for over 15 years and has been giving lessons to area guitar students for 8 years. He has worked as a luthier and builds many of the instruments Groove Project uses, including the marimbula and amadinda xylophone, and has re-headed many of the djembes. He plays with the horn band Hip Pocket and the Here & Now Quartet.

Alishiya Pearce Alishiya Pearce of Parkersburg is a geologist from Parkersburg and has been drumming with Groove Project since its inception.

 

Toni Kellar, director of Roots To Rhythm and a HealthRhythms facilitator, has been playing percussion since the age of 9. She has studied frame drumming with Glen Velez, Layne Redmond, and Randy Crafton, and has studied African djembe with Bob Bloom, a performing member of Babatunde Olatunji's Drums of Passion, and has performed with both Bloom and Olatunji. She currently performs with Groove Project in Marietta, Ohio.
